Neighbourhood Support Manawatū provides Mobile Christmas Cheer

Following the success of their July event, Neighbourhood Support Manawatū returned, as promised, with members of Manawatū District Council’s Emergency Management (EM) Team and Fire and Emergency (FENZ), to provide a pre-Christmas Barbeque.

The event was hosted for the tenants who call the Manawatū Community Trust housing units their home. The purpose of the gathering was to provide the opportunity for the tenants to have a chat with their neighbours and the MDC Emergency Management Team and FENZ about making sure they keep themselves safe.

The travelling barbeque visited the Woodlark, Alexandra, Tate, Fitzroy and Puriri complexes between the 29th of November and the 1st of December. In total 69 residents took the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality and fellowship, and Neighbourhood Support delivered an additional 65 BBQ meals to residents of the sites ee visited who were not able to attend in person.

MCT General Manager Teresa Hague says, “Our tenants enjoyed themselves and it was a great opportunity for me and our Board members to talk with tenants in an informal setting. It was great to see tenants and their whānau from our other complexes joining in.”
